Can I Pause, Skip, or Hold My Service?
Yes indeed! Read ahead for what to do, depending on how long you'll be away.
If you're headed out of town for just a few days or weeks
Log in to your My Service Schedule page and set yourself to a Skip for the service nights that you won't need a driver to stop by. If needed, you can also set your service night to be Pickup Only or Dropoff Only as appropriate*. Unsure what option to pick? Here's a guide on the modification options:

You only want the driver to dropoff clean diapers*, and do not want them to pick up any dirty diapers. *This option cannot be used if your last exchange was a Missed Pickup or a Dropoff Only (we won't have anything to dropoff!) |
- After your last exchange night was a Pickup Only. - If you're arriving back home right before your exchange and will have no dirties. - Anytime you need to let us know "we won't have any dirties out" so the driver knows not to mark you as a Missed Pickup (which lets us know not to email you the next morning). |

The Skip option has a handy built-in $10/week rental fee, with the intent being for you to take 24-30** diapers with you and self-launder while away! This option saves you a ton over the cost of disposables and is contactless, wasteless, and endless too. If you'll be away for several weeks or months, here are two options
Option 1: Away Service
- For this option, still log in to your My Service Schedule page to Skip the number of weeks that you're away (the Skip has a handy built-in $10/week rental)
- Take 24-30** of your service diapers with you, plus your covers, Snappis, and enough washing powder to get you started. Self-Launder while away.
- We can ship pretty much anywhere, so when you need to re-up on Washing Powder, liners, etc, hit the Shop page to purchase more and we'll ship to where you are.
- BONUS 1: If you need to size up while you're away, we'll ship you 30 of your next size up (don't worry about returning your smaller size until you get back)
- BONUS 2: If you're already away and didn't bring any of your diapers or covers, etc with you, let us know. We're happy to help figure out what's needed and send them your way.
Option 2: DIY (i.e. canceling service and purchasing your own diapers for home laundering)
Most times, the $10/week math works out best (especially with size upgrades included!). But if your relocation is a lengthy or permanent one, then you can absolutely turn in your service stock and purchase your own stash instead. The biggest trick for this option is: in order for us to turn off the $10/week rental fee, we have to collect all of the service diapers (and wipes/doublers, if applicable) from you first. Until then, continue with the Away Service above. Then, when you're able to return the diapers to us, follow the instructions below:
- To Cancel Service, head to Your Account and fill out the Cancellation Form to let us know what date to come collect all of the diapers.
And then to purchase your own diapers:
- Let us give a big plug to our sister company, Esembly. Esembly was conceived expressly to make home laundering as easy as possible, so definitely check it out. (note: everything purchased on the Esembly site comes from its own warehouse, so Diaperkind can't include these items with your service delivery since they have to be shipped directly from Esembly)
- If that's not the plan of action, Diaperkind would love to supply you with everything you need! Diaperkind's DIY Shop has everything needed to load you up for successful cloth diapering at home.
BIG NOTE: We need to maintain service diapers intact in their pre-numbered sets. So, rather than keeping diapers from your assigned set, we ask that you return your service set and purchase your own diapers for home laundering. - To Re-Sign Up: If you return to the city and are ready to dive back into the service, terrific! *Please note that a full service fee is incurred whenever a driver makes a stop at your address (e.g. Regular Diaper Service, Pickup Only, or Dropoff Only).
**24-30 diapers (+ wipes) is the sweet spot quantity for self-laundering. It's the perfect fit for your machine and puts you laundering about 2x per week.
