AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR WEIGHT RANGE (prefolds only)

Does it seem like baby is swimming around in their diaper? Be sure to enlist the "fold-over" technique from the illustrations and/or videos in the How Do the Diapers Work? article. It reduces any bulk you might experience during the first few pounds of your diapers' weight range...truly!

See below for the Angel Wing Fold with Fold-Over:

AT THE TOP OF YOUR WEIGHT RANGE

Meanwhile, in the last few pounds of any diaper's size range, you'll notice that its "wings" have a harder time reaching around your babe's growing belly.  Here are the tricks for those last few pounds:

  • Streeeetch your Snappi!
    • A lot of the time it's the Snappi that’s tight vs. the diaper itself. Simply grab the Snappi firmly on either side and give it 5-10 really good hard stretches and you’ll feel the plastic stretch out, loosen up, and become softer. When stretching, be sure to hold the Snappi by the flat white pieces (interior to the teeth) and NOT the loose rubber protective loops at the very ends. You'll get tons more grip to stretch the Snappi, not to mention a longer lifetime out of it!
    • Note: if you're in Size 1 Snappis, you may benefit from a Size 2 (aka Toddler-size) Snappi to try and get the most stretch you can!
  • You’ll want to start fanning your fold. Check out the pictures below:
    • Fanning is essentially widening the diaper so that the wings can reach further and further around baby's belly until just the 4 tips overlap. And when those are close to no longer reaching each other, that’s when you’re ready to size up!

SPECIAL NOTES ON TWEE SIZE DIAPERS

If you're in Smalls and your baby arrived weighing less than 7 pounds, email us and we'll switch you into the Twee size on your next service night.

Conversely, if you're in Twees and your baby is over 7 pounds, they're moments from bursting!  Be sure and hit the Change Diaper Size form ASAP so we can get you sorted out for your next service night.

That said, if it's mid-week and your Twees have already started bursting, then hit the Change Diaper Size link right away AND you can double-up your Twees in the interim. It's easiest to fasten one diaper like usual, and then trifold a second diaper and layer it between the fastened diaper and cover:

Here's a quick reference guide for how our diapers fit based on weight. Note that babies may fit diapers differently depending on their own unique shape- little butterballs will hit the top of their weight range sooner than long and lean babes, while the latter may need different diaper folding techniques all while being in the correct size diaper.
